Danish born avant-garde designer, Maikel Tawadros, is the founder of the Copenhagen based company of the same name. After graduating from Copenhagen Academy of Fashion Design, and working for various Danish designers, in 2012 Maikel decided to design collections in his own name. His vision is to create small ready-to-wear collections with a dark and gloomy, asymmetrical elegance combined with sharp, Scandinavian minimalism. Maikel Tawadros’ design signature springs from raw, architectural silhouettes mixed with dark elements from nature, such as animal anatomy, birds, insects, withered flowers, etc. He has a weakness for everything that emerges from the abnormal and steers away from the accepted standards. His aim is to push the limits and change the status quo. The color palette of his collections is minimal and consists primarily of black in several shades, which is used in order to create the feeling of a sharp, natural and non-forced look. The collections are always designed around an object, in order to create a silhouette tying the collections together. Maikel Tawadros works with heavy fabrics, such as wool, leather and fur, which are mixed with finer fabrics, such as thin jersey, silks, etc. This mixture is used in order to achieve an exclusive, eye-catching look.
