Charlotte Sparre graduated from Elsinore business school in 1989, and thereafter travelled to France to study one year at a French business high school.

After returning home, she trained as sales and marketing assistant at Scandinavian Airlines.
While she was doing this, Charlotte cultivated her interest in fashion with her own little business, making and selling hair clips and bows, initially alongside her studies at the local market in her hometown of Elsinore and later to her colleagues at SAS.

On a vacation to China, Charlotte bought a large amount of luxurious silk, out of which she sewed scarves, which she also sold to friends and colleagues. Interest in her scarves was enormous, so therefore she decided quickly that she would pursue the dream of having her own business and at the age of 24, she headed back to the East to buy more silk. Because the minimum order for production of silk was 500 to 1,000 yards per print, Charlotte had to buy enough material for 8,000 scarves if she were going to get off to a start. Of course, this was more than she had imagined or could afford. With the support of her family, she was able, however, to complete the purchase and invested in 8,000 scarves without having a single customer.
